Darlington Harriers & Athletics Club is please to announce the appointment of Hilary Bevan as club chair.

Hilary will be the first female chair since the club was established in 1891 and so is making history.

Hilary coaches the senior endurance group on Tuesday nights and has been involved in the club since 2017.

Her running journey only started in 2015 when she tried parkrun for the first time and (slowly) fell in love with the sport. Since then, she has taken part in various race distances from 5k to Marathon,
but can usually be found out on the trails, exploring the local countryside, with a big smile on her face.

Hilary said “I have got so much out of the club since I joined in 2017. I thought that Darlington Harriers was just for fast runners but even as a back of the pack runner, I have found so much support and friendship amongst the members. Everyone is really supportive of each other, whatever their pace. I’m grateful to our previous chair, Paul Cook, for doing such a brilliant job – he has left some pretty big shoes to fill. I am excited about taking on the role of chair and looking forward to meeting more of our members and getting to know them”.
