Darlington, Blackwell Grange Hotel receives Official AA 4* Rating

Blackwell Grange Hotel, Darlington becomes AA Four Star | Darlington Business Club

It’s an exciting time at Blackwell Grange Hotel. The Darlington venue, with an illustrious history dating back to 1693, has recently been awarded its official AA 4* Rating following a recent multi-million-pound investment. The refurbishment aimed to preserve the hotel’s unique character while bringing it into line with modern requirements, will help it endure long into the future.

 

The AA inspector who visited the hotel last week commented: “In terms of the AA Quality Standards the Blackwell Grange Hotel has successfully achieved a Four-Star Hotel rating. It is clear to see the investment that has taken place within the hotel to date and this is fantastic. The rolling programme of bedroom and en-suite refurbishment continues to add value. Housekeeping was diligent and attentive congratulations are certainly worthy to the team.”

 

“Dinner was enjoyable with dishes being well received; some were not far from being Rosette worthy if this is an avenue which the property may wish to progress on future visits. A great strength to this guest experience was that of the hospitality from the team with Sam, Keith, Krystoff all worthy of praise.”

 

Originally built as a family home for industrialist George Allan, the hotel stands within a wooded parkland. The building became a hotel in 1970 and now features three function suites, 108 bedrooms, three bars, nine further function rooms, a restaurant and leisure facilities, including a swimming pool and gym.

 

People of the town have a real nostalgic affection for the hotel as it has played a vital part in many lives, whether with weekly Sunday roasts or family weddings.

The hotel is a magnificent building which is steeped in history and I am so proud of everyone associated with our new 4* rating and in the AA’s words, I also say we have a team to be proud of.”
